The Dark Knight (2008)

Christian Bale and Heath Ledger star as Batman and Joker, respectively, in Christopher Nolan's 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight. As a sequel to Batman Begins, the film is the second in Nolan's Batman trilogy.

Continuing Batman's (Bale) quest to rid Gotham City of crime, Batman (Bale) finds himself in the same situation as Batman Begins. As he works to crush the city's criminal organizations, he is helped by Police Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Eckhart). Despite their efforts, however, they are thwarted by the Joker (Ledger), a criminal mastermind committed to destroying Gotham City.

Batman faces many moral and ethical dilemmas as a hero while dealing with the Joker's havoc on the city. The lines between good and evil are blurred throughout the film, justice is challenged, and corruption is explored.
